Every release of OverlayCam, and what changed in it.
New
- Put a room behind you instead of hiding the one you are in. Drop in a photo — an office, a studio, anything — and it goes behind you while you stay sharp.
- Soften that image as much as you like. No real lens keeps your face and the wall behind you both in focus, so a little blur is the difference between standing in the room and being pasted onto a picture of it.
New
- Step away without leaving a frozen picture behind. Switch on “Be right back” and OverlayCam turns your camera off and shows a card in its place, in your own colours, with a message you can change on the spot. Your camera really is off — the green light goes out.
- Every preset carries its own card, so the one you use for client calls can say something different from the one you use internally.

- Four new looks for your name and title: a capsule, a split that puts your name on your accent colour with the title beneath it, an outline with no fill, and a rule under plain text. Band, Card and Minimal are unchanged.
Fixed
- With the name and title anchored to the right, the two lines now line up against the right edge instead of trailing off.

- OverlayCam now tells you when a new version exists, and installs it if you say yes. You choose every time — install, remind me later, or skip this one — and you can check whenever you like from the OverlayCam menu.
- The notice never appears on its own while your camera is live, so it cannot turn up in the middle of a call. Checking by hand always works immediately.

- An optional setup report. Getting OverlayCam running means approving a macOS extension and sometimes restarting, and we had no way of knowing how often that goes wrong. Turn it on and the app says how far setup got — and nothing else. It is off unless you ask for it, and the privacy policy spells out every field.

- A camera macOS publishes as a real device, so Teams, Meet, Zoom and anything else that lists cameras can use it.
- Your logo, a brand frame and a lower third with your name and title, composited onto your webcam.
- Background blur in two strengths, worked out on your Mac without sending anything anywhere.
- Named brand presets you can drag into order, each carrying its own logo so it travels as one file.
- English and Spanish, following whichever your Mac is set to.
- Sets its own camera up on first launch, and asks you only for the approval macOS itself requires.
